Follow any training and instructions provided by employer (unless the employee deems it to be unsafe, in which instance any concerns should be reported back before undertaking work). 3. Use the appropriate equipment provided

Duty holders are required to: 1. Avoid carrying out work at height wherever possible and reasonable. 2. Where working at height cannot be prevented, use work equipment or undertake other steps to prevent falls. 3. Where a risk of a fall cannot be eliminated, use work equipment or other appropriate measures to reduce the height and consequences of a potential fall

What an employer must do: 1. Must undertake any and all reasonably practicable steps to prevent falling. 2. Follow the Regulations simple hierarchy for managing and selecting equipment for work at height

Regulations requirement on duty holders: 1. Ensure all work at height is properly planned and organised, taking account of weather conditions that could endanger the safety of personnel. 2. Provide adequate training to ensure those working at height are competent to undertake work. 3. Ensure place and height of work is safe. 4. Appropriately inspect all equipment provided for work at height. 5. Properly control the risks from fragile surfaces. 6. Control the risks from falling objects.
